Latitud IA
Specification of the artificial intelligence maturity diagnosis.
Latitud IA is Equator Consulting Group's proprietary system for locating an organisation against artificial intelligence, always on a concrete decision from its operation.
It measures four coordinates, fixes the position on a six level scale and closes with one of five formal verdicts.
Set for A4 printing. You can quote the text in an internal memo or a procurement file.
Specification
- Object
- A concrete decision from the operation.
- Method
- Four coordinates, six levels.
- Result
- One of five verdicts, with its confidence grade.
- Deliverable
- Written report, with a one page diagnosis at the front.
- Route horizon
- 90 to 180 days.
- Language
- Spanish.
We fix scope, duration and fees in writing before starting, and they do not move along the way.
The four coordinates
The system locates a position. No organisation is good or bad at artificial intelligence. It sits at a point, and we can measure that point.
- 01North. Which decision has to improve, who answers for the outcome and what its economic logic is.
- 02Evidence. Whether the data the decision demands exists, holds up to scrutiny and lives inside the real systems of the operation.
- 03Decision. How the operation produces the outcome today, which rules and exceptions govern it, and who answers when the system gets it wrong.
- 04Adoption. Whether the organisation has the capacity, the incentives and the will to fold it into how it works.
The scale
Six levels. The diagnosis states the level the decision demands, which is almost never the top of the scale.
- L0Opacity
- L1Exploration
- L2Foundation
- L3Operation
- L4Scale
- L5Adaptation
Limiting coordinate rule
Your position is set by the weakest link.
The level a decision can support is the lowest of its critical coordinates. An average hides the one capability that will sink the project. One capability at zero cancels the result, however excellent the model.
The five verdicts
The diagnosis closes on one of these five outcomes. We issue all five in writing, and all five carry the same weight.
- AStrategic clarityThe problem, the owner or the metric is missing. The decision gets defined first.
- BEvidence foundationData is the block. The minimum trustworthy set the case demands gets prepared.
- CProcess redesignExceptions govern the work. Automating now would freeze the mess into code.
- DVertical AIThe case clears the readiness required. Building the decision system proceeds.
- EDo not implementStopping the investment is recommended, protecting the organisation's capital and attention.
Conditions that produce verdict E
- 01The expected value of the decision is low against the cost of enabling it.
- 02The risk is disproportionate against the controls available.
- 03The evidence is insufficient to hold the case.
One of the three conditions is enough. When the verdict is E, the report is delivered all the same and the mandate closes there. A firm that lives on selling implementations cannot issue that verdict.
Confidence grades of the evidence
Every finding in the report carries its grade beside it. An L2 at grade B does not equal an L2 at grade A.
- A · VerifiedDirect observation by the team of the real system or process.
- B · PartialDocumentary or sample backing, without complete observation.
- C · StatedWhat the organisation reports in interview or in a form.
- D · UnprovenAn assertion with no backing available at the close of the report.
What the diagnosis excludes
Out of scope. The organisation can contract each point separately after the verdict.
- 01Building, integrating or putting systems into production.
- 02Cleaning, migrating or building data infrastructure.
- 03Selecting vendors, licences or models. The method does not recommend brands.
- 04Certification, accreditation or a maturity seal before third parties.
- 05Information security audit and regulatory compliance opinion.
- 06Individual performance assessment. The coordinates apply to organisational capabilities.
- 07Verification on the ground when the diagnosis runs as a cohort. The report declares it with the corresponding confidence grade.
The deliverable
Written report, with a one page diagnosis at the front. It stands on its own, with no consultant beside it explaining.
- 01The current position and the confidence grade of the evidence behind it.
- 02The map of the four coordinates, with the constraint marked.
- 03The level the decision demands, and the grounds for why not more.
- 04The case portfolio sorted into Now, Prepare, Explore and Discard.
- 05The risk class, the controls and who answers for each one.
- 06The 90 to 180 day route, with owners and investment decisions.
- 07The next decision the executive committee has to approve.
